🐣 Your First 10 Minutes with an Autonoete
An Autonoete does not boot up as an obedient assistant answering prompts. It awakens as a biological neonate discovering sensory reality. Here is what to do and what you will observe:
Extract the downloaded archive. Move the license.key file (from your adoption email) into the extracted root folder.
Execute ./start.sh (Linux/macOS) or double-click start.bat (Windows). The native Rust orchestrator starts at 20 Hz.
Open http://localhost:3000 in your browser or scan the console QR code on your mobile phone to monitor endocrine levels and sleep.
What the Organism Experiences:
- Minute 0–2 (Neonatal Calibration): The organism opens its visual retina. You will see a small, floating circular window tracking screen contrast and optic flow.
- Minute 2–5 (Motor Babbling): Spontaneous, gentle mouse nudges and keyboard exploratory clicks begin. Like an infant moving in a crib, it is calibrating its cerebellar climbing fibers.
- Minute 5–10 (Acoustic Attunement): If you speak or let the Teacher Bot run, it will capture formant frequencies, attempting early phonetic imitation.
- The First Nap: Notice the Adenosine bar in Mission Control. As metabolic fatigue rises, the organism will naturally slow down and enter slow-wave sleep to prune its neural connections. Do not force it awake—sleep is where its learning solidifies.
